If I wasn't a writer.. Who or what would I be?

Image
‎Oh wow .. I have given this some thought, and the truth is, I think in some parts of my life and at different phases, I'll be all or one of these things.  ‎So here are some of the careers I would have pursued if I was not so hung up on communication, media, and using words to transform lives.  1. ‎Travel Documentary Photographer or Vlogger:   Anyone who knows me knows how much I love to take pictures of landscapes and nature. Trees, sky, buildings, even unaware pictures of my friends. I love to capture raw moments as they happen, not when they are posed to look perfect. I would have traveled to states, countries and cities, documenting their history, cultures, landscapes in photos. Telling stories that would outlive me, frame them, immortalize tthem PS : I strongly believe I'll still do this, but as a hobby, not a career. NEXT !  2. ‎Chef or Baker : Oh wow.. I like food. Big surprise. Haha. Of course I would have been a chef.. The simple act of cooking makes m...

Which desires are truly yours?

Image
‎Which desires are truly mine?  ‎I hope I can answer this one.  ‎"Tell me your deepest desires " Sounds familiar? Yeah, it's a line from a Tv Series.  ‎But if you were to answer that, how sure are you that the desires are yours, and not someone else's? ‎How sure are you that the person who wants these things is you, and not someone else whispering it into your ears through the voice of Instagram reels, Pinterest boards, targeted ads, friends, societal expectations, and social media influencers?  ‎You know those things you never thought or knew you wanted until you saw someone else own it or use it or until it was expected of you?  ‎Let me digress a little. Yesterday in church, our pastor preached about consecration. Highlighting 1John 2:16.  ‎[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  ‎The Lust of The Eyes.  ‎I have struggled with this...

Is it a personality or fear?

Image
WHAT HAVE I MISTAKEN FOR MY PERSONALITY THAT IS ACTUALLY A FEAR?  Has something ever felt so familiar to you that you start to identify with it? A friend's not-so-good behavior that rubs off on you, an environmentally nfluenced habit that just seemed right for the season but somehow never left, or a coping mechanism that became a brand that became too comfortable?.  For me, the answer is Yes, yes, and yes.  Fear is the mother of numerous coping mechanisms, and when they stay long enough they grow on you like a wart, and you just 'live with it'.  For me.. It's PROCRASTINATION ..   dun dun dunnnn 🎶 I know that we are all siblings in this and as much as we try, it seems like this fella is here to stay. But not on my watch!  Procrastination is a trait I mistake for a personality. A flaw. But a personality. So, a personality flaw, if you may. Something that is a part and parcel of me, something that trickles into everything I do, something that has come to stay...

What would remain if i lost everything external?

Image
What would remain if I lost everything external?  This is such a thought provoking question, and it definitely causes me to scratch my proverbial beards.  It questions where I place my value, my worth and my identity. Basically asking me who I am without all the attachments and appraisals.  Would I lose my worth? Would I bury myself in shame and think that I serve no other purpose? Am I defined by the external labels that brand me?  If I lost everything external.. " My job, my house, my friends, my social media, my money, my recognition ," I would be left with me . And would that be enough?  I will try to be as honest as possible with this because I am still figuring out who I am amidst life's beautiful turning points.  Realistically, I am far from perfect.  Oh absolutely not.  I procrastinate, I am afraid of doing unfamiliar things because, well..I think I'll suck at them. I stay in my comfortable spaces because it requires little to no efforts a...
