Growth is Steady 🌱

 "If you are not growing fast, you are not growing"

This is one of the lies that many of us have been told by society, friends, and even family members. 

That if your growth is not significantly huge, especially in comparison to another, then is it even growth? 

Let me tell you something. 

The only person who understands and appreciates your growth is you, because the only person who knows where and how you started, is you. 

Let's paint a picture. Shall we? "

You were earning #40,000 at your former job, and then you got a new job that pays #100,000. You are excited because that is more than double your previous pay and it is an incredible growth for you. But someone who earns #500,000 tells you that the money is too small and should be pocket money, that you should not accept it."

Now, that person is speaking from their own reality and experience, which is valid. Perhaps #100,000 truly is pocket money for them, because of the level that they are, but should you despise your current growth because it is someone else's past?

Absolutely not. 

Growth varies among individuals. It is almost impossible to not compare earnings and lifestyle with friends, but remember that your journeys are not the same. 

They earn #500,000 because that is their current chapter in their own journey of life. You earn #100,000 because it is your current chapter in your own journey of life. 

Is this to say that you can't earn #500,000? Absolutely not. You can, if that is where your journey's at. You can compare and cry and hate it all you want, but you can never skip process. If you do, you'll fall back in ways you can not recover from. 

The Lord prepares us slowly according to the capacity He knows that we can handle. So instead of saying that you don't earn as much as your friend or neighbor, remember that you are earning double of what you once earned, which is an answered prayer. 

The competition is not between you and them, it is between you and you. The goal is to be a better version of yourself, not a copy version of someone else. 

Growth doesn't have to be fast-paced or huge. Growth can be steady. 

So take a moment to recognize and be grateful for what you consider to be 'slow' growth. It just might be exactly what you need at this particular time. 

You are exactly where you need to be. 

You Are ENOUGH.

I WANT A COOKIE 🍪

  Nothing prepared me for the screech sound that snapped me out of my daydreaming.  I realized that I was walking straight into an oncoming car and the driver had to screech to a halt to avoid crushing me to dust.  “Watch where you are going! You are lucky I wasn't on full speed, these young people”, she grunted as she drove off before she heard my muttered thanks.  I found a place to sit and breathe before continuing my routine daily walk. However this evening was different, I wasn't myself, it felt as though something had yanked out my soul, tied it around my neck and asked me if I wanted a cookie..  Ouu I could really use a cookie right now… arghh..   I shook my head and it brought me back to the present. I had gotten another rejection mail earlier today. It was getting really tiring and with each passing day I think I am slowly inching closer to fading away, because how was I to continue coping with the bills piling up and a stack of rejection emails?...

  You Gotta Be Hungry.  I've always been minimalistic.  No, let me rephrase that. I grew up believing that spending money on certain things were unnecessary, that money should be saved for important occasions or emergency, that expensive things were unnecessary luxury.  It shaped me into believing that I only deserved the bare minimum and that the urge to get something bigger was born out of discontent and greed.  Until recently I re-learned.  I re-learned that I am deserving of good things, even if they are expensive. I've always operated from a place of lack..  Saying that I couldn't get something because it was too expensive or i could do without it, and it came to pass, I never got them.  But now, I've learned to operate from a place of abundance.
