I WANT A COOKIE 🍪

Nothing prepared me for the screech sound that snapped me out of my daydreaming.

I realized that I was walking straight into an oncoming car and the driver had to screech to a halt to avoid crushing me to dust.

“Watch where you are going! You are lucky I wasn't on full speed, these young people”, she grunted as she drove off before she heard my muttered thanks.

I found a place to sit and breathe before continuing my routine daily walk. However this evening was different, I wasn't myself, it felt as though something had yanked out my soul, tied it around my neck and asked me if I wanted a cookie..

Ouu I could really use a cookie right now… arghh..

I shook my head and it brought me back to the present.

I had gotten another rejection mail earlier today. It was getting really tiring and with each passing day I think I am slowly inching closer to fading away, because how was I to continue coping with the bills piling up and a stack of rejection emails?

It made me question whether I was even worth half as much as I thought I was. Perhaps these companies see the real me and I'm holding on to the version of me that I hope to become- Capable and Indomitable.

 Who was I kidding?

I took a walk hoping to clear my head, but I got lost in the daydream of myself living the life I dreamed. A comfortable couch as opposed to the hard one I currently possess, a wide heart shaped pool in the back where my friends and I would hang out on the weekends and sip homemade pineapple juice.

And… what was that noise?..

I heard a loud AMENNNNN and blinked, confused. Slowly, everything around me began to zigzag and blur, and the pavement beneath me seemed to give way. Then it hit me—I was seated in church. The sermon had just ended. I looked around: no car, no road, no cookie. Just tens of people rising to their feet, faces lit with hope and joy in their hearts.

Then I heard a ding and checked my phone, I unlocked it. It was a mail.

Congratulations, we are delighted to…
