THERE WAS A CAUGHT 😱

 


You would think he had learnt his lesson by now, but when you google coconut head, a giant image of him pops up and winks at you. 

Jide sat on the floor in the middle of his one bedroom apartment, slowly drinking water after a very healthy dinner of garri and floating berries, he burped out the excessive nutrients and closed his eyes, hoping to shut out the disappointing voice in his head. 

Even his heartbeats sounded disappointed in him, he looked around his room, at the exact spot where her bags used to be.

 It was empty now.

 Just an open space. 

She was really gone. 

His inner voice had warned him severally to do better this time, but he really thought he could get away with it. 

Women are not as smart as you think.. 

He always thought. Until he met the one that bested him. 

After successfully playing Sonia and Adora in a span of 7 months, he met Cordelia. 

A beautiful goddess who despite her sophisticated outlook, fell for his charm and in no time, she was spending weekends at his place and leaving some of her stuff behind. 

After four months and confirming that she was completely under his thumb, he swung to action. 

Constantly borrowing money from her in the name of starting a new business and wanting to be a better man for her. 

Cordelia was a smitten kitten, so once he asked, and sealed it with a flicker of his tongue on her neck, she imputed her pin in her bank app with her eyes closed moaning his full government name. 

This went on for months and he became so confident that she was just a pretty dumb gi like the rest, he started slipping up. Mistreating her, flirting with other girls right in her presence, not caring whether he called her or not. 

Cordelia never uttered a word in complaint. One day, while on a date with one of his numerous sidepieces, he got a call. 

You see, Jide actually did invest the money this time, but he had planned to dump Cordelia as soon as it blew up and he became ‘rich’. 

So when the call came in and he was told the news, the BBQ chicken suddenly tasted like soaked feet and he spat it out. 

He rushed to his house, not noticing the empty corner at first and immediately went to his drawer. Picked up the documents for the investments and saw the surname “Nwoko”, realization hit him like a punch in the gut as he opened his bank app to see the account name that has been sending him money.. 


Cordelia Nwoko. 


How did he not see it?🤦🏾‍♀️ He didn't even check the name on the documents he signed or on the alerts, and even if he did, what if they were just coincidences? 

Ahh Jide! How do you invest that much money in a company you don't even know the owner? 

I knew the marketers.. 😭

The call replayed in his head.. 

“Your investment has started yielding, but you've been taken out of the list of investors to receive an ROI, our boss said you would know what that means. “

“What do you mean? Who's your boss?”

“Miss Cordelia”


You see, Cordelia knew who Jide was, she was Adora's cousin and when she heard everything he did to her, she came up with a scheme to deal with him. 

The “company” he was investing in was hers and Adora's, and they made the investment offer so mouthwatering that his greedy ass could not resist it. 

Just as he was thinking about how he had fooled himself and started shouting in frustration, another call came in, it was Cordelia. 

“Cordelia, what is the meaning of this? “

“Oh shut up, you think I didn't hear all the conversations with your friends? How you'd move on to better girls once you “ Hammer”? 

“Baby, I was only joking, it's something we guys do”

“Well, now i have done something we girls do. I have proof that I gave you all the money you invested, and how you said it was a loan, so I'm entitled to everything in this, incase you are thinking of legal actions, you can't even afford a lawyer.

 Also....

Adora says Hi. “

She ends the call. 

Adora. Adora. His mind reeled like wheels and it dawned on him, this was a properly orchestrated revenge plan. 

How would he pay all the debts he had incurred in hopes of getting this ROI? 🤦🏾‍♀️

He breathed deeply as he looked around his room again and at the empty plate of garri. 

He made a decision to do better and get a job at least.. 

You are bigger than this. 

His inner voice said again.. 

Just as he was concluding his plans to stay away from women and focus on getting his life back together, his phone rang and as soon as he saw the caller… he smiled broadly. 

Hey Julie, how are you baby? 

🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

This one is not ready to change. Lol.

I WANT A COOKIE 🍪

  Nothing prepared me for the screech sound that snapped me out of my daydreaming.  I realized that I was walking straight into an oncoming car and the driver had to screech to a halt to avoid crushing me to dust.  “Watch where you are going! You are lucky I wasn't on full speed, these young people”, she grunted as she drove off before she heard my muttered thanks.  I found a place to sit and breathe before continuing my routine daily walk. However this evening was different, I wasn't myself, it felt as though something had yanked out my soul, tied it around my neck and asked me if I wanted a cookie..  Ouu I could really use a cookie right now… arghh..   I shook my head and it brought me back to the present. I had gotten another rejection mail earlier today. It was getting really tiring and with each passing day I think I am slowly inching closer to fading away, because how was I to continue coping with the bills piling up and a stack of rejection emails?...

  You Gotta Be Hungry.  I've always been minimalistic.  No, let me rephrase that. I grew up believing that spending money on certain things were unnecessary, that money should be saved for important occasions or emergency, that expensive things were unnecessary luxury.  It shaped me into believing that I only deserved the bare minimum and that the urge to get something bigger was born out of discontent and greed.  Until recently I re-learned.  I re-learned that I am deserving of good things, even if they are expensive.
